ALLISON MARIE LOCONTO

Dr. Allison Loconto is a Researcher at the French National Institute for Research on Agriculture, Food and Envrionment (INRAE) and is also Deputy Director (with Douglas) of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Science, Innovation and Society (LISIS).

She has a PhD in Sociology from Michigan State University and a MA in International Affairs and Development from the American University in Washington, DC. Dr. Loconto is an Executive Committee member of the International Sociological Association and a member of the Multi-stakeholder Advisory Committee of the Sustainable Food Systems Programme of the One Planet Network (UN Environment).

Previously, she was a Science, Technology and Society Fellow at Harvard University (2018) and a Visiting Scientist at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (2013-2017). Her research programme focuses on the governance of transitions to sustainable food systems, specifically on the metrics, models, standards and systems of certification that are part of emerging institutional innovations. Her focus of analysis is on how the responsibility for sustainability in consumption and production is assumed and shared by different actors in food systems at different scales.

Dr. Loconto is on the editorial boards of the International Journal of the Sociology of Agriculture and Food and Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems: Social Movements, Institutions and Governance.

Her role in MOSAIC relates to WP2 and WP3.

Douglas K. R. Robinson

Dr. Douglas K. R. Robinson. Deputy Director of LISIS, the Laboratory for Interdisciplinary studies of Science Innovation and Society at the Université Gustave Eiffel, France.

Interdisciplinary by training and in practice, Douglas is an expert in studying emerging fields of science, technology and innovations and characterising their link with socio-economic change. Originally trained as a physicist and space scientist, Douglas has been both researcher and consultant focusing on the emergence of breakthrough technologies and their transformation into working technologies in society. A large part of his work is connecting academic research with real-world problems, through engagement exercises, operationalising responsible research and innovation (RRI), multi-stakeholder technology assessment and the development of policy relevant intelligence. As part of this activity, Douglas often combines research with tool development to improve reflexivity and better anticipate on the co-evolution of technology, innovation and society.

Since 2017 Douglas has been a senior researcher at the CNRS, and an honorary senior research associate at the Institute of Innovation for Public Purpose at University College London, UK, working closely with Prof. Mariana Mazzucato on Mission-Oriented Innovation Policy (MOIP) and its implementation. www.douglas-robinson.com

Douglas is leading WP2 (Co-creation review) Tasks 3.1 and 3.2 (Mission analyses) and co-leading WP6 (anticipating impacts).

I am interested in how the new trend of “Missions” is creating challenges and opportunities for doing research and innovation in various mixes of the quadruple helix. “How to DO mission-oriented research and innovation?” is at the heart of research interest at the moment.
