On Tuesday 09 May, the MOSAIC Pilots and Replicators workshop took place. Organised by MOSAIC partners ERRIN and Stickydot and kindly hosted by the city of Espoo, representatives from MOSAIC Pilot and Replicator cities, Milan, Gothenburg, Aarhus, Espoo, Tampere, Turku, gathered in Espoo to exchange ideas and experiences on their citizen engagement activities within the Horizon Europe Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.
The event was an excellent opportunity for Replicator cities to have discussions and insights from the Pilot cities regarding the co-creation process they are running supported by MOSAIC. The lesson learned by the Pilots provided valuable knowledge for the MOSAIC Replicators who are looking to implement similar solutions in their own cities.
The hands-on approach of the event provided opportunities for Replicator cities to reflect on how to engage local stakeholders in their environmental challenges, mapping the different actors from the public sector, business, academia and civil society who can be involved in the process.
Participants had the opportunity to be inspired by the study visit at the Lippulaiva Library, a concrete example from the city of Espoo of engaging citizens in co-designing and co-implementing local services. The library has been designed in collaboration with the community of Espoo, taking into account the vision and the needs of the different final users. Designed and implemented under the principles of sustainable development, the recycled furniture, natural materials, and colours reflect the local identity and create an environment fully integrated into the community's needs.
Upcoming MOSAIC activities will continue the mutual process among Pilots and Replicators, starting from the MOSAIC Clinic on 'Recruitment in co-creation: inclusiveness and broader audience’, taking place on Thursday 25 May at 11:00 CEST. Cities part of the MOSAIC Community of Pracitce willing to join can send an email to MOSAIC@errin.eu.
